Prerequisites:

  • Student must be 21 or older
  • Must have completed the Level 2 & 3 Courses or already hold a commission license.

Required Materials:
All the materials needed in order to complete this course are provided for the student.

Description:
The Level IV is the required course in order to be a personal protection officer in the state of Texas. This class will equip the student with a better understanding of state laws relating to body guarding. This is a hands-on course that requires the student to properly demonstrate the defensive maneuvers that are taught; including strikes, kicks, defense against knife & gun attacks etc.

Students will receive their Level IV Certificate upon successful completion of this course.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Students must also complete and submit a Psychological Evaluation/MMPI in addition to the Level 4 Training Certificate to the PSB in order to obtain this license.  The Psych Eval/MMPI must be administered by a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist.  A list of recommended doctors be printed on the back of your Certificate.

Change to Enforcement Procedures for Commissioned Security Officers and Personal Protection Officers

If the status of a Commissioned Security Officer or Personal Protection Officer licensee in TOPS is ACTIVE and the licensee is waiting on the pocket card to be produced and received by mail, they may begin working. Until the pocket card is received, the licensee MUST possess a screen shot or print out from TOPS as proof of their ACTIVE status. This allowance is only provided for the temporary period from the time the license has been approved and delivered to the licensee. Once the pocket card has been delivered, the licensee must have it in their possession when working, as required by administrative rule.
